日本の科学技術の進展を振り返ると、未来を見据えた「研究力を育む土壌」の成熟が求められています。これは、研究者、大学運営の専門家、資金配分機関、政策立案者など、多様なアクターが安心して挑戦し、新たな知的価値を生み出せる基盤を指します。その形成には、これらのアクターが協力し合う「共創」の文化を育むことが重要です。
こうした協力を通じて、日本の研究力は次の20年に向けてさらに成熟すると期待されます。未来を完全に予測することはできませんが、その未来を形作るのは今この瞬間の対話と協力です。
この度、文部科学省 科学技術・学術政策研究所（NISTEP）は、日本の研究活動の現状を振り返り、研究力を再考するシンポジウムを開催します。本シンポジウムでは、多様なアクターとの対話を通じて、次世代が安心して自律的に役割を果たせる「研究力を育む土壌」の成熟に向けた方向性を共に模索します。皆様とともに議論を共有する場となることを願っております。ぜひご参加ください。

The English version is as follows.
Reflecting on the progress of Japanese science and technology, there is a growing need to mature the “foundation for maturing research capabilities” for the future. This refers to a base where diverse actors—researchers, university administrators, funding agencies, policymakers, and others—can confidently take on challenges and generate new intellectual value. To build this foundation, fostering a culture of “co-creation” where these actors collaborate is crucial.
Through such collaboration, Japanese research capabilities are expected to mature even further over the next twenty years. While we cannot fully predict the future, the dialogue and cooperation we engage in at this very moment shape it.
In light of this, the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will hold a symposium to reflect on the current state of Japanese research activities and reconsider our research capabilities. By engaging in dialogue with various actors, we aim to widely convey the directions and approaches needed to build the “foundation for maturing research capabilities,” enabling the next generation to confidently and autonomously fulfill their roles. We look forward to your participation.
