The Second International Conference on Technology Foresight

Date :
27 - 28 February, 2003
Venue:
U Thant International Conference Hall, United Nations University Headquarters, Tokyo
Organizer:
National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP)
Co-organizer:
APEC Center for Technology Foresight
Theme:
The Third Generation Foresight and Prioritization in Science and Technology Policy
Purpose:

In previous the First International Conference on Technology Foresight in March 2000 by NISTEP, we realized that Foresight was changing over to the third generation - take opinion from a variety of social stakeholders such as citizens, through the second generation - adopt the trend of market, from the first generation - focus on exploring technology advance.

After three years, many countries take the third generation Foresight and they obtain great success. We also seek new Foresight that can contribute to work out strategies for prioritization in science and technology policy, because a linkage between science and technology policy and Foresight seems to be very important.

In Japan, the implementation of Technology Foresight in response to social and economical needs is planned in order to form the third Science and Technology Basic Plan 2006 - 2010.

Thus, we announce to open this conference for providing all attendants the opportunity of sharing knowledge with the object of establishment of more powerful Technology Foresight.
